Day 3 - City of Longyearbyen

The arctic island of Svalbard is the northernmost part of Norway. From Oslo you get a 3 hr direct flight to Svalbard.

After check in, a local guide will be ready for a tour to familiarize you with the city and answer any questions along the way. Svalbard has an interesting coal mining history, unique nature and a superb gastronomic scene, and your guide will make sure you get to know it all. On October 26th the sun disappears behind the horizon for the last time and the all dark polar nights begin Nov. 14th lasting through to the end of January. It still takes some weeks before the sun rises above the horizon though. Mid-April you already have the 24 hr daylight and you can still experience a good few weeks with winter wonderland under the midnight sun.

We will make the most of the daylight but still embrace the darkness and especially the blue magical light in-between!
